Governance & Safeguarding Policies

These policies form the cornerstone of Village Hope International’s ethical and operational framework, guiding the conduct, decision-making, and responsibilities of all individuals affiliated with our organization, including staff, volunteers, board members, contractors, and strategic partners. They reflect our steadfast commitment to lawful, respectful, and value-driven service, ensuring that every aspect of our work aligns with U.S. Federal Regulations (including IRS guidelines for 501(c)(3) nonprofits), California State Laws governing nonprofit governance, and internationally recognized best practices that promote transparency, accountability, and human dignity.

Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy

Village Hope International (VHI) affirms that the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of children are foundational to its mission. As a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting orphans and other vulnerable children through education, healthcare, and holistic empowerment, VHI is committed to creating environments where every child is protected from harm, respected as an individual, and supported to thrive. This Child Protection and safeguarding policy outlines the principles, standards, and procedures that govern all VHI operations.

Financial Management Policy

Village Hope International’s Financial Management Policy defines the principles, standards, and procedures that govern all financial activities across the organization, reinforcing our commitment to transparency in reporting, accountability in stewardship, compliance with federal laws, California state regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and operational efficiency that supports programmatic impact and long-term sustainability. This policy reflects current nonprofit governance standards and serves as the primary reference for financial decision-making, internal controls, and consistency across all departments and programs.

Gender Policy

Village Hope International (VHI) is deeply committed to advancing gender equity as a core pillar of its mission to support vulnerable children and their families through education, healthcare, and holistic empowerment. VHI recognizes that gender-based disparities, whether structural, cultural, or institutional, can obstruct human rights and sustainable development. This Gender Policy outlines our framework for promoting gender-responsive planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation throughout all operations, partnerships, and service delivery.

Grounded in compliance with U.S. federal and California state laws (including Title IX and the Civil Rights Act of 1964), international human rights instruments such as CEDAW and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and best practices in nonprofit governance and safeguarding, this policy applies to all staff, volunteers, board members, and stakeholders. VHI affirms that gender equity is not only a legal obligation but a strategic imperative to ensure dignity, safety, and opportunity for individuals of all gender identities.

Code of Conduct and Ethics

Village Hope International (VHI) is a mission-driven nonprofit committed to the dignity, health, and education of vulnerable children. We uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of our work.
This Code of Conduct and Ethics serves as a foundational guide for the behavior, decision-making, and responsibilities of everyone affiliated with VHI—including staff, volunteers, board members, contractors, and strategic partners. It reflects our unwavering commitment to lawful, respectful, and value-driven service, in alignment with U.S. Federal Regulations (including IRS guidelines for 501(c)(3) organizations), California State Laws governing nonprofit governance and charitable solicitation, and international best practices rooted in integrity, inclusivity, and responsible stewardship.

Ethical conduct is not just a legal requirement, it is a moral imperative. Our programs are built on trust: from the communities we serve, our donors and partners, and the children and families who rely on our integrity. This Code affirms our dedication to protecting rights and wellbeing, promoting equity and cultural sensitivity, safeguarding donor resources, fostering a safe and empowering workplace, and complying with all applicable laws and standards. All individuals associated with VHI are expected to uphold these principles, ensuring our mission is carried out with honor, compassion, and excellence.
