This Non-Discrimination Policy affirms our unwavering commitment to providing services, employment, volunteer opportunities, and program participation free from discrimination. In accordance with applicable laws and regulations—including Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), and international human rights frameworks.
Village Hope International prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, military or veteran status, genetic information, citizenship, or any other status protected by law.
This policy applies to all organizational activities, including but not limited to child sponsorship, provision of clean drinking water, caregiver support, distribution of life-saving medicines, healthcare training, and nutritional assistance. It governs the conduct of staff, volunteers, board members, contractors, and partners across all geographic locations where Village Hope International operates, including the United States (with specific adherence to California nonprofit regulations) and international program sites.
The policy is applicable to:

Program Delivery: All services provided, such as child sponsorship, access to clean drinking water, caregiver support, distribution of life-saving medicines, healthcare training, and nutritional assistance must be administered equitably and without bias.

04. Grievance and Reporting Procedures
Village Hope International is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and responsive environment for all individuals engaged in or impacted by its programs. We recognize that effective grievance mechanisms are essential to upholding our Non-Discrimination Policy and ensuring accountability across all levels of the organization.
Reporting Channels
Individuals who believe they have experienced or witnessed discrimination, harassment, or retaliation in connection with Village Hope International’s operations are encouraged to report their concerns through any of the following confidential channels:

Designated Safeguarding Officer: Reports may be submitted directly to the appointed safeguarding or compliance officer via secure email or in-person meeting.

Investigation Process
Upon receipt of a grievance, Village Hope International will initiate a prompt, impartial, and thorough investigation. The process will include:

Acknowledgment of the report within five (5) business days.

Documentation of findings and recommended actions.

Resolution within a reasonable timeframe, typically not exceeding thirty (30) calendar days.

Protection Against Retaliation
Village Hope International strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual who submits a grievance in good faith or participates in an investigation. Retaliatory conduct will be treated as a serious violation of this policy and may result in disciplinary action.
Appeals and Escalation
If a complainant is dissatisfied with the outcome of an investigation, they may submit a written appeal to the Executive Director or Board Chair within ten (10) business days of receiving the decision. Appeals will be reviewed independently, and a final determination will be issued within fifteen (15) business days.
International Considerations
In international program settings, Village Hope International will adapt its grievance procedures to align with local legal frameworks and cultural contexts, while maintaining core principles of fairness, transparency, and protection.
05. Policy Review and Continuous Improvement
Village Hope International recognizes that maintaining an effective Non-Discrimination Policy requires ongoing evaluation, adaptation, and commitment to continuous improvement. As legal frameworks, social contexts, and organizational operations evolve, so too must our safeguards and practices.
